Sesshin

Sesshin will take place Wednesday, December 4 through Sunday, December 8.

Each day begins at 6:00am and concludes at 9:00pm, except Sunday. The Shuso Ceremony will begin at 2:30pm on Sunday and will conclude Sesshin and the Practice Period.

Practice Period 2019

To study the self is to forget the self...

This practice period Dragons Leap will study Eihei Dogen's Genjo Koan [Actualization of Reality]. It is one of the groundwork texts of Soto Zen Buddhism and the first chapter of The Shobogenzo. Dairyu Michael Wenger will lead the weekly classes exploring this important text.

To support your studies, the following books are recommended:

  • Realizing Genjokoan by Shohaku Okamura

  • Dogen's Genjo Koan Three Commentaries

Classes are offered each Sunday from 5:00-6:15pm, October 6 through December 1.

Other important dates include:

  • One Day Sit: October 6, 9am - 5pm

  • Sejiki Ceremony, 7pm

  • One Day Sit, November 10, 9am - 5pm

    • Shosan Ceremony

  • Sesshin, December 4 - 8, 6:00am - 9:00pm

    • Shuso Ceremony December 8 at 2:30pm
